What a great set of exercises Michael. Do you do these at home by yourself?

Here's a great video with some alternative battling rope exercises: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr97VnyobAA&feature=g-u-u&context=G2061c81FUAAAAAAACAA

Also check out functionalpatterns.com for some great body weight and medicine ball drills. He uses kettlebells too.

I don't have many good tyre exercises. You could try incorporating some box jumps to add in some more lower body work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIkDMOr_SMg

Thanks for those alternatives Patti. Yes you can definitely use other pieces of equipment. The car tyres I use weigh about 6-9 kgs (for reference).

You could also use partner resisted sprints as a sub for the rope sprints. If you don't have a harness just have your guys stand face to face. The resistor slows the sprinter by placing their hands on the sprinters shoulders.

Hi! I love the site and get some good ideas!

I am looking to come up with a good work out using the heavy rope, a tractor tire and kettlebell.

I have been doing something like this:
Rope - alternating waves
KB - Swing
Tire - Flip 20 times, get in the middle and carry back (farmer walk)
Rope - side to side
KB - single hand clean and press
Tire - Flip once - then jump in and out
Rope - Slams
Explosive Push-ups
TIre - Flip 20 times, get in the middle and carry back (farmer walk)
Rope - What I call Rope Burns - 15 sec work, 15 sec rest, of alternating waves, criss cross, double waves, side to side, slams, jumping jacks, boxer punches.

You guys always have so cool exercises so any ideas to mix it up will be appreciated!

Good Health!

Looks like a lot of fun! My classes are in a parking lot, and I have to use what equipment I have - and that doesn't include tires or battling ropes (yet) - and we can't do bear crawls on the pavement. BUT I can certainly modify your ideas using what I have, while still maintaining the integrity of the workout you've designed, I believe.
For example: A heavy weight or Medicine Balls will work for the overhead carry in Station one
We can use the parking curb for the toe taps (there are even curved, 1/2 round sections of curb); partner the boot campers up with weighted bars to perform the Rope complex.
A sandbag (or heavy duffle bag) could work for the Rope Sprints.
Finally, Inchworms could be subbed in for the Bear crawls!
I hope that might be helpful to anyone else who might be in a similar situation, and I'd love to hear any suggestions for alternate moves or ideas!
Thanks Kyle!

Thanks Garry! Rope sprints are great, especially when it's wet because the rope gets heavier and heavier as the workout goes on. Clients can also do a rope carry by looping the rope around their neck.

Ah yes. This is one I got from Brian Devlin a while back. Start in plank, push your hips back in the Yoga pose, child's pose. Move back into plank. That's one rep.

Hi Kathy,

Sideline 1 arm pushup goes like this: Lie on your side with your head resting on your hand. Press your torso up off the ground using your free hand and your obliques. Your lats should leave the ground while your hips remain in place. Lower yourself back to the ground.

The stir the pot variety I used in this workout is a lot like a Russian Twist. However, instead of twisting keep the belly button and hips facing forward while clasping your hands together and creating a 'stirring' motion. The bigger the 'pot' the harder the exercise.

Hope that helps,
Kyle
